Early this morning, the Avele College 100th Anniversary celebration began with a vibrant parade in front of the Government Building in Matagalialalua, kicking off a week-long series of festivities.

The highlight of the event was the presence of Sir Tom John Marsters, the special guest for the anniversary. Sir Tom, currently the King's Representative to the Cook Islands, is a distinguished alumnus of Avele College. He has served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Cook Islands, as well as the Deputy Leader of the Cook Islands Party. He attended Avele College from 1960 to 1963, a period he fondly remembers as the foundation of his educational journey.

Sir Tom had the honor of cutting the ribbon to officially open the new Fale Samoa, named O Sinaleavele. In his speech, he recalled the old fale that once stood on the same spot, traditionally covered with laufala. Now, he marveled at the new structure with its modern design.

Emotion filled Sir Tom's voice as he concluded his speech with tears of joy, urging the current students of Avele to uphold the school's legacy. "To the new kids of Avele, please carry on the beautiful legacy of this place. Fa'afetai lava."
