The Pacific Island community have come together in New Zealand today to pay their final respects to the late Māori King, Kiingi Tuheitia Pootatau Te Wherowhero VII, whose funeral is being held at Turangawaewae Marae. Two groups have made their way to Turangawaewae Marae, where Kiingi Tuheitia will lie in state. The first group, led by Teleiai Edwin Puni, represents the Pacific Leadership Forum (PLF), a coalition of Pacific organisations and leaders in New Zealand. The second group is the Pacific General Assembly Council of Chiefs, led by former MP Su’a Aupito William Sio.
