Despite a spirited effort, Samoa U20 faced a daunting challenge against Scotland U20, resulting in a 123-15 defeat in their opening match of the World Rugby U20 Trophy at Hive Stadium this morning. The match saw Scotland set new tournament records for the most points scored in a single game and the largest winning margin, underscoring the formidable opposition Samoa encountered.

Scotland's tactical domination was evident early on, as they exploited Samoa's defensive weaknesses with powerful mauls and swift ball handling. Ryan Burke opened the scoring with a try from a driving maul, and the Scots quickly built on this lead with precision and speed. Despite Samoa's efforts, including a penalty kick by Panaua Niulevaea and two tries from Totoa Auvaa, they struggled to contain Scotland's relentless attacks. By halftime, Scotland had already amassed a 66-3 lead, demonstrating their clinical finishing and cohesive teamwork.

The second half saw no let-up from the Scots, as they continued to rack up points and maintain pressure on Samoa. Jerry Blyth-Lafferty's second try right after the break set the tone for the remainder of the game. The Scottish forwards and backs seamlessly combined to extend their lead, with tries coming from various players, including replacements who added fresh energy. Samoa managed to add another try and conversion, but it was a mere consolation in the face of Scotland's overwhelming performance. The final scoreline of 123-15 highlighted Scotland's determination and capability as they aim to secure promotion back to the U20 Championship.
