Founded in September 2023 by Misa Peter Anae and Ryan Walker, Strongman Samoa is swiftly becoming a cornerstone of the local fitness community. Every Saturday, enthusiasts gather at Crossfit Fatutoa to participate in Strongman classes aimed at introducing the sport to Samoa and fostering a growing community of strength athletes.

The inaugural competition, "Samoa's Mightiest Hero," was held in April 2024 at Crossfit Fatutoa, Vaitele. This event drew 28 athletes from three major gyms across Samoa, including competitors from American Samoa and Olympian Judoka Derek Sua. The competition generated significant interest, leading to the highly anticipated second event, "The Big Chief Showdown," which took place last Saturday at Malaefatu, Sogi. This event saw an even larger turnout with 34 athletes, including two Olympians, Kaino Kasimani (Taekwondo) and Oliva Kirisome (Powerlifting), showcasing their strength and versatility.

Strongman Samoa has proven to be more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of unity and strength. The sport has attracted participants from various athletic backgrounds and walks of life, embodying the organisation’s motto, "UNITED IN STRENGTH." The success of these events has not only captivated local audiences but has also caught the attention of international athletes. Notably, Samoan World Strongest man competitor Eddie Williams expressed his interest in participating in future competitions in Samoa.

Strongman competitions are not just about the athletes; they are a spectacle for the community, bringing families together to witness incredible feats of strength while enjoying a vibrant atmosphere. As Strongman Samoa continues to grow, it is clear that this sport is here to stay, providing a platform for athletes and entertainment for all.
